Slightly broader shoulders in 2013, this Petite Sirah absorbed more new oak ~ 50% French oak in a combination of 400L puncheons and 228L barrique.  The wine was racked once during élevage and was bottled after 20 months. 

A dark, brooding, and fruit-forward wine suggesting bluberry compote, blackberry, black plum, and black cherry.   Plus there are additional layers of complexity with hints of spice, anise, sassafras, and caramelized sugar. This wine is opulent and lively, while maintaining freshness, combined with dense tannin and robust structure.

Technical Information:

Soil Type: Linne Clay Loam - this whitish gray soil contains limestone pieces beginning 18”-24” below the surface.  The presence of limestone captures and preserves the freshness in this wine, and being a heavier soil lends itself to a rounder mouthfeel.
